Why do it?

Push Press allows you to lift more weight overhead than a standard Shoulder Press by using leg drive to accelerate the bar at the start of the movement. This additional weight allows you to increase the load and training stimulus on the body and shoulders.

Instructions

  1. Begin with the barbell on a rack at shoulder height
  2. Lift the barbell off the rack onto your shoulders with your hands under the bar

  1. Spring down until there is a bend in your legs

  1. Recoil back up from the hips, ankles and shoulders
Push Press
  1. Push with your shoulders to fully extend the arms, with your feet flat on the ground
Push Press
  1. Lower the bar to neck height and repeat
