How to Measure Hip Size

For the closest comparison, measure your hip unflexed with a flexible tape on bare skin or light clothing. Stand with your feet together and weight evenly distributed. Measure horizontally around the fullest point of the hips and buttocks. Keep the tape flat and snug without compressing the skin, and use the same method each time. Community measurements are self-reported, so individual technique may vary.

Does hip size include the buttocks?

Yes. The tape passes around the fullest point of the hips and buttocks. It does not measure the straight-line width of the hip bones.
